My only experience with German casinos hitherto my trip to Berlin had
been when I played at Bavarian-themed German Online Casinos. Much to my
chagrin, when I arrived in Berlin it wasn’t at all like the German Online
Casino; there were no beer maidens or liederhosen.
The casino itself – SpielBank Berlin – was in the newly renovated
Potsdamer Platz. Potsdamer Platz is the new center of the new Berlin and
stands out from the rest of Berlin with its ultra-modern architecture
and towering skyscrapers.
SpielBank Berlin was founded in 1975 and opened in the Europa Center in
West Berlin; after Germany was reunified SpielBank Berlin moved to its
current location at Potsdamer Platz. It recently celebrated its 5'th
anniversary at the hip Potsdamer Platz.
The daily jackpots are high, around 500 000 Euro (about $800 000 –
probably more soon) and the casino is nicely laid-out. The casino offers
the following games: American and French roulette, blackjack, poker,
slots and machine roulette. The slots are good but the money I made came
from French roulette and blackjack.
All in all, with visitors from all over Europe and the world, Spielbank
Berlin radiates the luxury and class that you’d expect at international
casinos. Next time you’re in Berlin, stop by the Film Museum at
Potsdamer Platz and then drop some cash at SpielBank Berlin.
