Black Jack

Blackjack is one of the world's most frequently played card games. The game is also known as twenty-one or vingt-et-un. Its origins are unknown; however several countries claim they were the ones who played it first.

When playing the game each player gets one card face down and bets that this card plus additional cards dealt face up will beat the dealer's hand without exceeding 21. The cards have different values where the ace is the only one having two counts, mainly 1 or 11. A face card values 10, all others cards representing their written face value. A score of 21 on the first two cards is called “Blackjack”. A hand with a higher total than 21 is said to bust and a hand in which an ace's value is counted as 11 is called a soft hand, because it cannot be busted if the player draws another card.

The goal of each player is to beat the dealer by having the higher hand. If both the player and the dealer have the same point value, it is called a push and neither player nor dealer wins.

Whether it is played in casinos or homes, the games offer thrilling entertainment. When played at tournaments, Blackjack is called Elimination Blackjack, Chinese Blackjack is played by many in Asia, having no splitting of cards, but with other card combination regulations and other variations like Double Exposure and Double Attack also exist.
